Sampdoria – Fame to Match Their Shirts

Sampdoria are a team that have been around for some time, a well established club they are having an indifferent season currently lying 14th in Serie A (as I write this article).

They’ve had a colorful history and have had an array of famous past footballing talent. The likes of Platt, Souness, Brady & Gullit to name a few have all plied their trade in the blue Sampdoria football shirts.

Sampdoria were relegated from Serie A in 1999 after a turbulent season and they did not วิธีสมัคร ufabet return until 2002 after they had a cash injection from local Italian businessman Riccardo Garrone. Upon their return they finished the season in 8th place only just missing out on European qualification.

They seemed to have a bit of a rejuvenation last season as they finished 6th and qualified for Europe via the Inter Toto Cup, however they only made it through to the first round after being eliminated on the away goals rule by AaB  of Denmark.

It’s hard to pinpoint the poor run of form but with the current crop of talent I doubt it will be too long before Sampdoria will be climbing the table and reaching the dizzy heights of Serie A.

Current manager Walter Mazzarri is going to have his work cut out but he is not unfamiliar to hard work and getting teams out of danger. He served as coach of Reggina from 2004 to 2007, leading the Calabrian side to three consecutive savings, the latter being particularly impressive, as obtained in the final Serie A day of the season despite a 11 points deduction.
